10:47AM - Back

So, I'm back from visiting my parents for Xmas. It's always great to see my parents, sister and my bff, Chuck. I could in no way live in Tulsa again. I don't know if things have changed, but when I lived there, I just don't seem to remember as many people with two teeth and people wearing hunting gear everywhere.

One of the pluses of Tulsa is the sometimes cheap shopping. I think the stuff I like generally doesn't sell well there, so it is still around for major markdowns, when here some queen would have already bought it out from under me. I bought a Calvin Klein bedspread for about $70, which is $300 on Macys.com.

I bought a new digital camera, as the one I have is very old. I'm not exactly the kind of person to go around taking pictures too often.

I'm sure everyone is expecting a huge best hot jams of 2008 list from me, which I may try to sit down and put together at some point. This has been a good year for singles and remixes, but it has been a really weak year for full length albums. I think it shows what a bad year it was for full lengths when people are saying that Portishead record was the best of the year.

I have a busy weekend ahead. Friday is the final Lucky Pierre. Saturday I'm DJing at Bearracuda, along with 50poundnote. Sunday I am DJing from 6-11, at Chaps II; I'm really unsure what to expect, as I actually haven't been there.

12:11PM - You were such a P.Y.T.

Happy 50th Birthday Michael Jackson. I know many people seem to think I’m joking when I say that I think Michael Jackson is a genius and that he had a huge influence on my love of music. In 6th grade I realized that I was a complete freak by still listening to Michael Jackson when other kids were listening to, well I don’t even know what, but in a strange way that started me along the path of listening to whatever music I liked. A few years later when I discovered New Order, Wax Trax, Nitzer Ebb, etc., I certainly wasn’t still listening to Michael Jackson, but when I went back and listened to Thriller over 10 years later, I realized how great those songs still were.

So, I’m DJing at Reacharound at Cat Club tonight; let me know if you want to be on the list. All you fatties can drop by before DNA, and you can even wear camo shorts (though I will still mock you).

11:33AM - It's so cold, it's like the cold if you were dead

Do you ever rediscover a record and get completely obsessed with it again? A few weeks ago I wanted to hear "Disintegration", which I really had not listened to in years, and now I'm listening to it again. With maybe the exception of "Pretty Hate Machine", I don't know if any other record was ever more "my teen angst bullshit has a body count" than this record. I always liked the Cure, but I guess I was never a complete Cure freak, even in high school. "Love Song" is terrible, but pretty much everything else on here is flawless.

8:50AM - Shadowplay

The Shadowplay stage was so much fun Sunday. I got to see a lot of friends I don't see often enough, including leggylady and phreaki_boi. I also hung out with franken_bear, sftekbear and 50poundnote. It was good to talk with sftekbear a bit further and bond over who not to date. You can check out arthole's pics, many of them from the Shadowplay stage.

I think the final hour of the stage was the most crowded and insane the stage has ever been. I was approached by several folks saying they loved what I played and talked about a few possible gigs in the future. I lost track of how many times I was called an amazing DJ, which is nice, but still seems odd to hear, as I'm just doing what I love.

I don't quite understand how there were gay faggot homosexuals everywhere, people were telling me I was the best dj on earth nstuff, but nobody tried to make out with me.

11:52AM - Shadowplay stage

Yes, the Shadowplay stage is happening again this year at Pride. We start at noon and go until 7:00, at Hyde and Market, as usual. If you haven't been, there really is nothing like blasting good music for tons of gay homosexuals all day in the sun.




Also, the night before the stage, I'm djing at Temptation, at the Cat Club.

I don't want to give my money to Microsoft and yes I'm sure this sucks compared to my iPod, but this is by far my favorite album cover of all time, and likely my favorite album. I know I'm a total sucker if I actually buy this.

Yes, I haven't posted on here in forever. Now that I'm single I'm making an attempt to revive my LJ.

I could write about numerous things, but so many things have changed with me lately I don't even know where to start.

I'm busy getting things ready for the Shadowplay stage later this month. My job is going well, and I'm generally fairly happy right now.

8:28AM - Shadowplay Stage Sunday June 24, Hyde and Market, noon-6:30

This Sunday, June 24, celebrate Pride at the Shadowplay Stage, the SF Pride Festival's indie dance oasis. The Stage is on Hyde St, just inside the festival gates from Market St, from noon to 6:30pm. Meet up with friends, hang out, and dance in the streets. The festival is free, though a donation to Pride, which goes to local non-profits, is encouraged.

From noon to 3pm, the Stage will feature the best of Shadowplay: indie, electro, discopunk, plus punk, new wave, post-punk, riot grrrl, and glam classics. DJs are Donimo (Shadowplay, Lucky Pierre, Substance), Candy (Now Hear This!), and DJ6 (Shadowplay, Lucky Pierre, Now Hear This!).

From 3pm-6:30pm, we'll feature Lucky Pierre at the Shadowplay Stage. Coco Canal (Miss Trannyshack 2005) will host, and we'll have strip poker and go go dancers, and more of the mad excess for which Lucky Pierre has become notorious. DJ Donimo and DJ6 will spin the latest electro burners.

11:04PM - Selling our souls for rock 'n' roll

So, those who haven't heard, we're moving Shadowplay to once a month in March, on 3rd Fridays. On first Fridays we're going to start doing a new night called Lucky Pierre, which is going to be horribly and frighteningly gay.
